You'd be surprised what what was considered new. To some people, new is
anything they've not come across before.
But ... new and interesting are not always the same, either.

That's kind of what I mean. One can 'explore' sounds, in my view, by
just marching through a bank of patches, which you can do on any synth.
But when you're really "interested", the Nord is great. That's when it
comes into its own.
Because ... suddenly you can begin to appreciate that maybe you can
"see" what is necessary to create that sound. And ... it's also
immediately accessible.
Of course, if it's a patch by Rob Hordijk or Jim Clark or Dave Peck or
Jan Punter or some divinity like that, you don't have much chance of
actually UNDERSTANDING it this side of a PhD in sound architecture, but
you can still kind of follow the patch around to get a rough idea what
might be happening.
