[NM] [Classic]: New (?) type of editor crash (WinXP)

Hello list,

recently I experienced a type of editor crash that was completely new to 
me (I never got this with other apps either).
I am using an (expanded) NM classic on Windows XP Pro (SP2).

At some time that I can't really define (may be it happened several 
times when I sent four pgrogram change messages to the four slots nearly 
immediately (i.e. from a sequencer as fast as possible)) the editor 
window suddenly disappears and I'n not able to (re)start the editor anymore.
Looking at the task manager I find no entry in the applications tab but 
the editor process still running. The command to stop the process 
doesn't have any effect; the only way to stop the process and to be able 
again to start the editor is a complete Windows reboot.

As this just started to happen recently and I didn't change anything in 
the editor (what could I...) I assume this is rather an OS issue,
but as this only happens to the NM editor I thought I'd ask the list if 
anybody had any similar experiences - or even better: experiences 
together with a solution.
